The World Ice Art Championships With Kids

Last Frontier Events|June 20, 2026

The World Ice Art Championships aren't just for admiring sculptures — there's a whole ice park built for kids. Here's how to do it as a family.

The kids' ice park

Giant ice slides, an ice playground, and interactive pieces make the park a genuine kid magnet. It's one of the most memorable winter outings in Fairbanks.

Time it right

Bring kids during the day for the slides and playground, and if you can, stay until dusk when the big competition sculptures light up. Little ones may not last for both — plan accordingly.

Keep them warm

Snowsuits, insulated boots, hand warmers, and a plan to duck inside to warm up will make or break the visit. It's cold, and it's all outdoors.
