Camping at Salmonfest: What to Know Before You Go
Last Frontier Events|June 20, 2026
Most people don't just attend Salmonfest — they camp it. Here's what to know before you pitch a tent at the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Ninilchik.
On-site camping is the norm
Camping is part of the Salmonfest experience, and weekend passes with camping are the most popular way in. Spots fill up, so book early and arrive early to claim a good one.
What to bring
Pack for cool, often damp Kenai weather: a solid tent, a warm sleeping bag, layers, and rain gear. Bring water, cash for vendors, and earplugs if you want to sleep before the music stops.
Be a good neighbor
Follow the festival's quiet hours and generator rules, pack out your trash, and keep it friendly — it's that kind of crowd.
