Getting to the Alaska State Fair: Parking, Tickets & Tips

Last Frontier Events|June 20, 2026

The Alaska State Fair in Palmer is an easy trip from Anchorage — here's how to handle parking, tickets, and timing so the day goes smoothly.

Getting there

Palmer is about a 45-minute drive north of Anchorage on the Glenn Highway. The fairgrounds are well-signed once you're in town.

Parking

There's on-site parking, with shuttles and fuller lots on weekends and concert nights. Come earlier in the day on busy dates to save yourself a long walk.

Tickets

Expect a gate admission fee, with discounts for kids and seniors (little ones are often free). Concert tickets are separate and frequently include gate admission — buy popular shows ahead, as they sell out.

Timing tip

Weekdays are noticeably calmer than weekends, and the fair is closed on certain weekdays — check the daily schedule before you drive up.
