The Alaska State Fair With Kids

Last Frontier Events|June 20, 2026

The Alaska State Fair is a hit with kids — here's how to make a family day in Palmer go well.

What kids love

The carnival midway and rides, the animals and 4-H barns, and the giant vegetables (a 100+ pound cabbage is a real jaw-dropper). Free stages and community entertainment fill the day between.

Plan for the day

Bring a stroller for little legs, sunscreen and layers for changeable late-summer weather, and a meeting spot in case anyone wanders. Weekdays are calmer for younger kids than the weekend crush.

Budget tips

Little kids are often free at the gate, and an all-day ride wristband can beat per-ride tickets if your kids will ride a lot. There's plenty to see for free, too.
