Beyond Salmonfest: Things to Do in Ninilchik & on the Kenai

Salmonfest's home base, Ninilchik, is a tiny coastal village in the middle of some of Alaska's best fishing and scenery. Make a few days of it.

Don't miss the historic Russian Orthodox church on the hill above the old village, with views over Cook Inlet to the volcanoes across the water.

Fishing & clamming

The Kenai is world-famous for salmon and halibut — book a charter from Ninilchik, Deep Creek, or Homer. The beaches are also known for razor clamming in season.

Run down to Homer

Homer and its iconic Spit are about an hour south — seafood, galleries, and the literal end of the road.
