This Week in Anchorage & Southcentral — May 18 to May 24

Last Frontier Events|May 18, 2026

Late May in Alaska is when the midnight sun starts to become real. In Anchorage, the sun doesn't set until nearly 11 pm by the third week of May, and the perpetual twilight that follows barely qualifies as darkness. The energy is extraordinary — Alaskans embrace every hour of it, and the event calendar swells accordingly. From outdoor concerts in Delaney Park to glacier tours out of Whittier, the Southcentral region is running at full capacity.

The Kenai Peninsula is in peak early-summer form. King salmon season is producing well, halibut action in Cook Inlet is strong, and the highway from Anchorage to Homer is busy with camping rigs and loaded SUVs. Seward is hosting its spring lineup of outdoor events and the harbor is packed with charter boats. In Anchorage, the summer farmers market, live music at outdoor venues, and community festivals are all well underway — the city feels more alive than it has since last August.

Find everything happening in Southcentral this week in the listings below — May 18 through 24, spanning the coast, the mountains, and everywhere in between.

Southcentral Alaska stays busy this week (May 18–24) with 9 events across Anchorage, the Mat-Su Valley, and the Kenai Peninsula. Here's what's happening.
