Biography

Marc Brown & The Blues Crew is a blues-rock band fronted by guitarist and vocalist Marc Brown, who was born and raised in Huslia, Alaska, and is Koyukon Athabascan. Brown began playing guitar at age four and performed early on with his grandfather's band, drawing on country-gospel and Athabascan fiddle influences before developing his own blues style. He later studied at Berklee College of Music, and the band has been active since 1993.

The band, now based in Fairbanks, won the 2011 Native American Music Award for Best Blues Recording for its album Indian Rock'n'Roll, which was also nominated for Group of the Year. Over a career spanning more than two decades, the band has opened for national acts including ZZ Top and Jethro Tull.
