Kaltag in the race
Kaltag is a pivotal point: teams leave the Yukon here and cross the historic Kaltag Portage — an old trade and mail route — over to the Bering Sea coast at Unalakleet.
Mile markers are approximate and shift with the year's route. Kaltag sits on the interior leg of the 2027 southern route.
